We seem to forget about the "good" girls in TV with all of the "bad" girls running around. These bad girls take the spotlight by doing stupid things such as taking nude photos or making sex tapes. Any names ring a bell?
These girls seem to have all the fame right now and a common (alleged) theme between all of them is that they had sex tapes and/or nude photos that ended up skyrocketing their careers. Is this negatively teaching our youth that in order to succeed they have to be "bad"? I think this may create an identity issue in our culture. Why don't we notice any of the "good" girls like Hayden Panettiere? It's because they don't crash their cars, go to rehab, mistreat their children, cheat on their spouses, leak photos, etc. The good girls just do their thing and stay clean in doing so. Our society has been taught that since all of the drama and media coverage lies with the "bad" girls, that these are the celebrities to follow and strive to become. The media controls what actors/actresses we see the most of on TV and this is going to be the ones with the most drama that make for the best news coverage. As a result these stars become even more popular and get their own TV shows, movie roles, product lines, etc. With the increased usage of the internet, it is becoming easier and easier to follow the "bad" girls. If you do a Google search for one of these girls, or any girl for that matter, some of your first image results are going to be nude photos (whether photo-shopped or not) of these girls. Our society is driven by the girls that go against the norm and those are the girls that will continue to stay popular while the "good" girls will be left in the dust.
