2M2MM

This summer, four men who are also poker players were offered a chance to win two million dollars in two months. Based on this, a reality television show was created called “Two Months. Two Million.” This show follows these poker players throughout these two months and the viewer is able to see how they live and if they will win the two million dollars. These characters live in Las Vegas and lead a very radical lifestyle. But does this show promote a gambling to its viewers? After all, the main characters on this show are just regular men in their early twenties. This show has caused these men to become celebrities. According to Franco, we relate to celebrities that are similar to us in some way. I think that many viewers of this show could easily relate to the main characters. Does this become dangerous for people who may want to emulate the actions of these characters? Throughout the entire show, the characters are gambling. Many viewers may think that this is something they can achieve in their lives as well. So does this reality television show hurt viewers? I think that this type of situation is completely up to the viewer. If the viewer does not see this type of lifestyle as acceptable or if they think they will have a problem with the show, they should simply not watch it. In addition, the players did not win the two million dollars so the network did display the negative aspects of gambling as well. I don’t necessarily think that just because some people may be affected by the emulation of the main characters means that networks shouldn’t air the television show. After all, these networks in order to provide entertainment to their viewers and make money. They will do so using the shows they think will be the most enjoyable and watched the most frequently. Do you think airing shows like this is irresponsible or is it the fault of the viewer if they have a problem due to the viewing of the show?
