O.J. Simpson goes to Jail!

Recently, O.J. Simpson went to jail due to armed robbery. However, many people think that he was sentenced based on the desire for him to be sent to jail from his previous alleged crime…killing his wife and her friend. O.J. Simpson wrote a book called “If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer” Which discussed details of how he would have killed his wife if he had done so. This caused many to believe that he had indeed committed this crime. O.J. seems to feel a sense of power by writing this book. He also seems to think he is “above the law” according to the father of his wife’s friend who was murdered. Do you think this is the case or did he truly deserve to go to jail for this crime alone? O.J. claimed that he was simply taking things back that were his. I don’t believe this to be the case. In my opinion, he deserved to go to jail for this regardless of his previous alleged crime. There is a great deal of controversy surrounding Simpson involving his race and fame regarding the crimes he has committed and been blamed for committing. Many people believe that he was not convicted of killing his wife simply because he is an African American and that at the same time, he was convicted of this crime because he is African American. I personally think a great majority of it has to do with the amount of money O.J. Simpson has. He had the ability to hire great lawyers who freed him of the blame for killing his wife. But after being blamed for another crime, it is not likely that he would be freed twice. I think that feeling above the law is a part of popular culture that seems to be common among celebrities. Should we buy in to this when things like O.J.’s trial occur? I think that it is important that our country holds celebrities and all people to the same standards as far as the law is concerned. I think that these people should be held accountable for their crimes regardless of the amount of money they have.
