If you have recently walked by a newsstand or picked up the February 2010 edition of Maxim magazine, you would see, quite obviously, that Amanda Bynes is on the cover. Bynes, now twenty-three years old, started her career around the age of ten when she joined the cast of Nickelodeon's All That, a kid's sketch comedy show that aired in the 1990s. As Bynes has done quite a bit of growing up since her Nickelodeon days, people find is both strange and alluring that child stars like Bynes, are turning towards the "sexier" side of things by posing in scantily clad outfits for posters, photoshoots, and magazine covers. Not only that, but also moving into doing nudity and sex scenes in movies and television series. Bynes made a splash on the cover of Maxim by doing a four page interview and photospread in their latest issue as America's television sweetheart. Though Bynes does not pose nude in any of these pictures and has yet to do a sex scene in any movie, she discusses with the magazine that she hopes to do these things in the near future (however, she says she will never do porn.) There was not too much of a stir when infamous child stars like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen or Lindsey Lohan broke their barrier from child star into adulthood with drinking, drugging, nudity and sex tapes, but with Bynes, a child star who thus far has made no bad press for herself makes people wonder what is in store for the present day child stars such as Dakota Fanning, Miley Cyrus, Abigail Breslin and Selena Gomez. It is no mystery that even the young starlets of today will soon grow into adults, but as more and more parents look for a good role model for their children in television stars, some think that perhaps Hollywood should rethink how they portray and further sell these stars as they grow older. Parents and Hollywood will forever continue to fight a silent battle over who should change their ways regarding normal children and children in Hollywood. Should parents teach their children that there is a fine line between enjoying the trends and screen-lives of these celebrities and actually trying to be them or should Hollywood be more careful this time around when portraying stars who started their careers playing middle school kids on Disney and Nickelodeon shows?
