As all of you may know, Haiti was devasted by an earthquake which has left millions homeless, as well as families torn apart by deaths and lost members. The 7.0 magnitude quake hit on Tuesday, the 12th of January leaving nothing but destruction in its path. Becuase of its destruction, Port-Au-Prince in particular has an enormous amount of destroyed buildings, homes, and roads. With millions suffering in the already poverned area, Haiti needed help with resources and supplies and countries around the world have been contributing to this help.
Along with these countries, is many big named celebrities in Hollywood, showing their affection towards the people of Haiti and the want to help the problems the people are facing. The Yele haiti foundation, created by Wyclef Jean, is just one of the few programs celebrities have joined/created to show their concern for Haiti. Working alongside of the yelehaiti foundation, Not On Our Watch, which has members that include big named celebs such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, have already donated 1 million dollars for supplies to help the people of Haiti.

With all of the help Haiti is getting from huge names in Hollywood, it shows how they have so much pull in the media today and can make a difference. When we see celebrities on commercials trying to spread the word and help to Haiti, it actually does help us everyday people want to contribute as well. Celebrities have a lot of power in our culture today, and because of the mass amounts of money they make, they can use some of it for good; donating millions of dollars to Haiti.
