Dress up Time

Lady Gaga just a few nights ago began her new concert tour starting in New York City at Radio City. She absolutely captivated the crowd with her typical off the wall, radical, and unpredictable moves. What was a sight to see, were the hundreds of fans all flashing their blonde wigs, sequin body suits, glitter, leather, and top hats.
This fascination and urge to be someone were not is unreal. This PopEater website wrote an article after attending Lagy Gaga's concert and wrote, "Some took the time to impersonate her, and others took her inspiration to create a whole new look uniquely their own."
It is amazing the amount of time people spend trying to look and live the lives of celebrities. What is the deal with this fascination? Or could it even be called obsession?
Cashmere wrote about whether a scandal can hurt or help a celebrity's image. Lady Gaga is far from worrying about her image. She has completely embraced her own identity regardless of how its perceived. Whether this is her way of a scandal or not she doesn't seem too worried about how the world views her.
Why do we feel the need to associate with famed celebrities? I think that a big reason we so attached to the lives of celebrities is to escape our own lives and reality. By giving ourselves another identity, one we don't own and can wear from time to time, helps give our lives more excitement and meaning. By showing up to a concert in leather, a top hat, and a big blonde wig we are disassociating ourselves from real life.
