Recently Conan Obrien was given 45 million dollars for his time slot on NBC. There has been talk that Fox has given him offers for a new show on their primetime T.V. As of right now Fox does not have a late night television show. This would give Fox a chance to bring up the ratings for its network. I personally am not a fan of Jay Leno and his late night show. I find him a little obnoxious. On the other hand Conan has a fantastic show and I find it very amusing to watch. Is NBC making a big mistake in doing this? Will more people watch the Jay Leno show than Conan? If Fox were to make Conan an offer and put his show on at the same time and Leno, I think this would be a great decision and show NBC that Conan has the better show and they made a big mistake. If you were a Conan fan you are probably going to follow him no matter what network he goes to. I think if a smaller network and not one of the five super powers of television were to pick him up they would be smart and their ratings would shoot through the roof and be the start of a sixth super power network. Power is key to a good network. Recently we read about the CW network where two smaller companies joined forces and formed a larger network. In order to compete with ABC, NBC and Fox you need good shows that people want to watch. To do this you need money. You can not skimp on a budget for a show that you want to be great. This is where the Jay Leno show made its first mistake by having low budget shows. People are not going to watch a show that is made poorly. If NBC is smart they will not make this mistake when Leno returns. You can bet that I will be watching Conan which ever channel he moves to.
