Charmed is a TV show that has been popular for its entire showing and is still strong today. It is about 3 sisters who are living as witches in San Francisco. They each have their different powers; Prue is able to move objects with her mind, Piper can freeze time, and Phoebe has visions of the future. Prue now is replaced by Paige who has the powers of orbing, glamouring, healing and is telekinetic. They seem to live regular lives but have to deal with their powers and encounters with the “other worlds.” Every show they fight a new demon or a reoccurring demon that just will not die. The sisters are very beautiful and have no problem showing skin. They are known for their skimpy outfits and sexual appearance.

This show does a good job flipping the norms of the helpless damsel in distress being saved by the strong man. The women in this show have the power while still maintaining a very sexual presence. The women in this show handle their own issues while defending the city from demons. Giving the message that hot women can do it too even though they are still sexual objects. This is exactly the conflicting ideology that is in modern media. No matter how weak or powerful a woman may be, she will always be just a sexual object. The characters in Charmed handle all aspects of their lives dressed in a manner that spotlights their sexual presence. This communicates to the audience that women should have standards that must be met on a daily basis. Women are not allowed to perform any activities in apparel that may allow the public to view them as anything other than a sexual object.
Today’s society craves violence and sex in our entertainment. Shows like Charmed is a perfect fit balancing drama, action and sex all in one. The sisters protect the city and look hot doing it.
