Some of you may or may not have heard of this new show on MTV, The Buried Life, and if not I would suggest it. The main theme of the show, is pretty much a bucket list. What do you want to do before you die?' is the main question and plot to the show. 4 young guys decide to make a list of things they want to do before they die, while recording the adventures across the globe they take in order to cross it items off of the list. Though just premeired on MTV for the first time January 18th, the Buried Life has been in the works since 2006.
With its hard earned roots and determination by the four guys to make The Buried Life legit, now they have their show on MTV. In fact, having a show on MTV was on their list of things to do, #53, and was achieved. The good thing about this show, besides how creative the guys are in figuring out ways to cross items off of their list, is the good message it gives to young viewers. MTV has been on a reality rampage with Jershey Shore and The Real World DC. In these shows, which most of you know, are a lot of violence, sex, drinking, pretty much your standard list of things to include in a show produced by MTV. Because MTV has so many young viewers, ranging from the age of 13-30, its about time they had a show that teaches us about how precious life is. Instead of getting drunk, these 4 boys are helping individuals around the world with one thing they want to do before they die. This part of the program is educational in the sense that it shows young adults can be caring and productive, and we are not seen as the "tainted" generation in society.
Althought shows such as Jersey Shore and The Real World are quite entertaining to our culture, and get a lot of fans, it is nice to know that their is still decent media out there, available to young adults, that doesnt involve celebrities. The Buried Life is focusing just on a group of everyday guys trying to make a difference, and trying to show viewers that life is so short and you should try and live it to the fullest without feeling like you have something missing in it. In retrospect to Gamsen, in a way these guys have fit under the fame that is manufactored category, but at the same time they are not trying to make it big in Hollywood. For a matter of fact, The Buried Life crew denied the first offer for a show by MTV in November of 2006 because they wanted to keep their roots strong and not wanted to seem like sell-outs. These guys do not want to do all of these things for entertainment (even though it is), they want to do it for themselves and to inspire people to go for their goals and make their lives worth living.
