Fashion is always recycling itself. The runways are always making revivals of the styles from decades ago. Today, the funny chunky looking clog shoes are back. Some might think they are unfashionable. It is an old trend being rediscovered. Karl Lagerfeld sprinkled the Chanel 2010 runways with clogs just recently. There's only so much one could do with the shapes, forms and colors of a shirt, a pair of pants, a dress and etc. Designers are constantly drawing inspiration from history to accommodate their designs today. The innovation and improvement created based on those historical idea lead to new designs and become the essence of the current era that would be represented in the future. The clog shoes are being spotted on show sets such as Gossip Girl. They are being worn by the trendsetters in Hollywood. As much as one may hate them, it is inevitable that they are back. Take Ugg boots as an example, are they really trendy or fashionable? Doubtful. They first became popular because everybody in Hollywood wore them. Celebrities are challenging fashion in a somewhat rebellious way. I wonder what would Coco Chanel say if she were still around today. Fashion aesthetics are no longer judged by the classic elements and criteria. Yet they are merely labeled with fame and popularity. There’s often a fine line between edgy and bad-taste. Have we become fashion forward or have we just omitted the classic beauty?
