Music Stars Sign Up for Haiti Telethon

The disastrous earthquake has shaken up many hearts in the United States. Among those are our celebrities. The article talks about Hope for Haiti Now, a star-studded telethon airing Friday that will feature musical performances from Los Angeles, New York City and London, plus live reporting from CNN's Anderson Cooper in Haiti. During the time of crisis, celebrities are stepping out to maximize the aid we could possibility provide. They are using their popularity and fame to carry out more responsible social roles. Their fans will be influenced by them and be encouraged to make donations to the unfortunates. Celebrities nowadays are not only performers or actors of music or motion pictures. Their reputation and success are also closely related to how they carry themselves in all other aspects from the ways they dress to their social roles. Everything they do are scrutinized and magnified by the rest of the world. Activities such as the telethon are definitely good opportunities for celebrities to build up, or rebuild their images. Among those names that were listed by the news are celebrities such as Justin Timberlake, Rihanna,Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera,George Clooney and etc. They are usually perceived with relatively positive images and impressions. I wonder if other social celebrities such as Paris Hilton, who are often surrounded by negative gossips, would consider using those opportunities to rebuild their images. If they were, would they abuse such opportunities and make it into another needless drama that just creates more flashlights upon themselves. Would it be counter-effective?
